Stage Management
Olivia is a current actress, singer, dancer, and stage manager based out of D.C.
She has been a stage manager at James Madison University for the past two years. Even thought she came into college as a performance concentrator only, she quickly found a deep love for the organizational and chaotic craft that is stage management. She is passionate about positive collaboration and loves helping to create environments that allow for efficient but fun play in the space. Olivia is also an avid tiktoking line dancer and swing dancer (@livlinedances) where she helps to create a safe, engaging, and supportive group of learning dancers. More about me and my performing can be found at oliviachristineflorian.com.
At James Madison University, Olivia has stage managed three main stage shows each in a different spaces. In the Studio Theatre she jumped into her first SM position in Anon(ymous) where she learned the basics to the craft while navigating the beauty of having a guest director. She then followed up with a play that has music, Dance Nation, which was performed on the Main Stage. This process had more complex elements such as fly systems, music cues and other things such as double casts. She most recently stage managed Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 this past fall in the Concert Hall (the biggest space yet). This include a three day tech period wheree she spent 16 hours each day working to cue this three hour monster of an opera. She is an organized, efficient, problem solver who strives to help lead and support her creative teams toward a common goal.
